It was a rather warm day, you and Lovino soaking in the sun.
...Well, you soaking in the sun, Lovino snoring in the sun.
Sighing, your eyes trailed upwards to meet the branches of an apple tree. Well, more like you and Lovino's apple tree. This was where you and Lovino had met; a dreamy sigh escaped your lips as you dug up the memory.
Flashback
"Damn tomato! Why are you so high up?!" a small boy snarled as he attempted to reach an apple on the tree despite his height.
You eyed him curiously from afar; you had recently found this place, and from what you knew this boy always came here everyday, 3 o' clock sharp. At 4 o' clock, an older boy would come and tell the little boy to come home, in which he reluctantly followed.
This had been going on for some time now, and today you decided that you'd approach him.
The boy turned as he heard your footsteps, and once you were close enough you stuck out your small hand.
"Hello! I'm _____. You seem to be having some trouble," you giggled. The boy blushed, taking your small hand in his own and giving it a light shake.
"Lovino."
"Ooh! Can I call you Lovi?" you asked eagerly. He shook his head furiously, the blush seeming to darken.
"No! he yelled. "There is no way in hell you're gonna call me Lovi!"
You whimpered at his yelling, backing away a few steps. "Y-You don't hafta be so loud..."
Lovino sighed. "I'm... sorry. I'm just kinda mad right now because that bastardo Spain forgot to give me some tomatoes, but then I noticed the tomatoes up there but I can't get them."
He pointed up at the tree in annoyance, and you followed his finger to see a lone apple on a branch.
You tried your best to stifle your laughter, but it came out anyways. Soon, the laughter became a full out fit, and you were doubling over.
"H-Hey! What's so funny?!" Lovino demanded angrily. You let out your last few laughs before explaining to him.
"Lovi, those aren't tomatoes. They're apples!" you giggled. "I can help you get one, if you want."
"Do they taste good?"
"Mhm! They're all sweet and crunchy!" you said with a grin. "Okay, squat down and I'll get on your shoulders."
"Wait, what? You're gonna go on top of me?!" asked Lovino in alarm. "What if you squish me?!"
"Hey! I'm not that heavy!" You retorted, crossing your arms. "Now c'mon, just squat down."
Once he had squatted down, you climbed onto his shoulders and took a hold of the red apple, twisting it so the stem would snap off. Successful, you smiled before jumping off.
"Here you go!" you said, handing him the apple. A hint of a smile flickered across his face before it was back to that grumpy look.
"Thanks," was his response, and he plopped down to start eating. As he dug into the red fruit, you smiled. It seems like you made a friend.
"Hey, Lovi, can we meet back here tomorrow, at this apple tree?" you asked after a few moments. "I hafta go."
"...Okay," he said, but uncertainty was laced in his voice. "How do I know when you're gonna come, though?"
"Leave it to me!" you flashed him a thumbs-up. "Anyways, see you later!"
"Hey, wait!"
You stopped, looking back. "Yes?"
"Promise you'll... come back?"
"Promise!"
Flashback end
A dreamy smile was playing on your lips as you recalled that memory. By far it had to be your favorite; after that little meeting, you two had become super close, and during that you had developed a small crush on him.
...Okay, maybe it wasn't a small crush. Maybe it was gigantic.
...Maybe it was love.
Either way, you ended up falling for the hot-headed Italian, and just looking at him brought out a light blush on your cheeks.
Your eyes soon drifted towards him, and you placed an affectionate kiss on his forehead.
"Ti amo, Lovi," you murmured into his hair, using his native language.
"I love you too, _____."
Your eyes widened, and your breath got caught in your throat. No, _____, calm down, he might've been sleep talking...
"Oi, bella, it's not good to talk to yourself, and I wasn't sleep talking," Lovino said with a chuckle. You mentally facepalmed; you didn't realize you were talking to yourself!
"S-So... you heard what I said?"
"Um, no. I just said 'I love you too' because I heard the wind whisper to me that it loved me," Lovino said sarcastically. You giggled, and felt his arms suddenly wrap themselves around you.
"So, _____... you weren't lying, when you said you loved me?" Lovino whispered, unlike his usual, hot-headed self. Blushing a dark red, you averted your eyes from his smoldering amber ones.
"Well?" he grunted.
"Iwasn'tlying..." you mumbled. Confusion spread across his face at your jumbled up words.
"Um... come again?"
"I SAID I WASN'T LYING!" you practically shouted, startling the Italian. He recovered, though, before chuckling and titling your head up.
"Good."
He crushed his lips onto yours, and you froze before easing into the kiss. The kiss matched his behavior; rough, but once you got used to it it was somehow both rough and gentle.
You didn't know how it worked out, but it did. And you liked it.
The need for air grew strong, and reluctantly you two parted.
"Hmhm... you taste like apples, you know that?" Lovino said.
"Hmhm, you taste like tomatoes, you know that?" you mimicked him playfully.
"Kinda weird, but apples and tomatoes actually taste pretty good..." Lovino whispered huskily. "I kinda want to try some more now."
"Really?" you whispered back. "So do I."
With that said, Lovino's lips landed on yours once more.

Lovino Vargas
(Language warning... but since it's Lovi you should have just assumed that there would be some colourful vocabulary.)

The rhythmic chopping of tomatoes had become one of your favourite sounds, as odd as that seemed; decidedly this was because the noise was always accompanied by the heavenly scent of a delectable Italian dish prepared by none other than your foul mouthed Italian friend. You stepped swiftly down the hallway and peered around the kitchen door to discover said Italian creating your favourite noise. Ducking behind one of the large marble counters you managed to creep up behind him and slip your arms around his

WARNING: Swearing. In English, and what I hope (from Google Translate) is Italian. (If someone familiar at all with the profanity of the language wanted to confirm that for me I’d be forever grateful, because I trust Google Translate with that task as much as I would trust a drunk Prussia to hold my newborn child.) Anyway, it’s Romano, so if you don’t like swears, GTFO. Now. See? I swear, Reader-chan swears, Romano swears, we all swear. It’s healthy.

“Why can’t I meet your brother, Lovino?” you asked the grumpy man, slinging an arm around his shoulders as he sat on the couch.
He blushed a little,
