"Hey, Ivan!" you called, waving to the large Russian man. He turned to the sound of your voice, and a childish smile tugged at his lips as he gave you a slight wave.
"Hello, _____," Ivan said cheerfully. "It is a beautiful day, da?"
"It is a rather beautiful day," you mused. "So, how's it going, Ivan?"
"Things have been going fine. Things have been going fine for you too, da?" Ivan said. You nodded with a light blush, and Ivan's smile grew a bit wider.
'Alright, it's now or never, _____!'
"Hey, Ivan, can I tell you something?"
"Da, _____?"
"Umm..." you started to fumble with your hands. 'Dear whoever rules over my fate or destiny or whatever it's called, please please PLEASE let me pronounce this right!' you prayed inside your head.
You took a deep breath to calm your now racing heart as Ivan's curious purple orbs gazed at you expectantly.
"Ya lyublyu vashu cherepakhu!"
Silence.
'Oh crap, did I say it wrong?!'
You were surprised when Ivan started laughing, and you tilted your head curiously.
"What're you laughing at?"
"You!" Ivan chuckled. "You just told me that you loved my turtle, _____. I don't have a turtle."
You facepalmed.
'Goddammit, I did say it wrong!'
"What were you trying to say, _____?" Ivan asked innocently. A blush once again flooded your cheeks, and you suddenly found your shoes to be very interesting.
"I, um, uhh..."
Ivan chuckled. "Let me help you, da?"
You were shocked when a gentle finger tilted up your chin, and your short gasp was cut off by a pair of lips landing on yours.
Your knees grew weak, but Ivan's strong arms supported you from falling right then and there. It took a few seconds to process what exactly was happening, but once it finally registered in your mind you kissed him back.
It was a short kiss, gentle and sweet. Something that you didn't exactly expect from the Russian; you were actually expecting it to be a bit rough and forceful, but this type of kiss was just as good.
As he parted, the childish smile he had on grew wider and a faint blush invaded his cheeks. "Ya lyublyu tebya. Is that what you were trying to say?"
"Ye-Yeah..." you mumbled, your mind still fuzzy from the kiss. "Y-Ya tebya lyublyu, Ivan..."
A soft chuckle emitted from the large nation, and he swept you up into a big hug.
'Ya lyublyu tebya, _____.'
